What tile bundle comes with the app?
CarcBot ships with a built-in Sample Pack of simple, edge-matched tiles so you can start generating maps the first time you open the app. The sample pack is read-only to protect the default experience — if you want to change it, tap Duplicate to create an editable copy.
How do I add a new tile set?
Open the configuration screen and tap Tile Bundles. From there you can Import .carcpack to install a bundle you’ve been sent, or choose New Bundle to build one from scratch on device. You can also Duplicate any installed bundle as a starting point.
Can I edit tiles inside the app?
Yes. Tap any bundle in the Tile Bundles list to open the editor. You can add tiles, change their edges (City, Road, Field, River), rename them, rotate their images, switch between the square and triangle sections, and delete entries. Changes are saved immediately. The sample pack is read-only — duplicate it first if you want to edit.
Why are the River 1, River 2, Castle, or Count buttons greyed out?
Those buttons light up only when the currently installed bundles actually contain tiles tagged with the corresponding set. The sample pack contains basic fill tiles only, so those special sets stay disabled until you install or create a bundle that includes them.
Map generation fails even though there seem to be enough tiles.
CarcBot tries many random placements and gives up after too many failed attempts. Some configurations (very small grids with special sets enabled, or Castle composites on small grids) can be impossible to satisfy. The warning banner on the configuration screen flags common cases. Try a larger grid, fewer special sets, or relax the Exclude Edge setting.
How do I save a generated map?
After generating, tap Save on the preview screen to write a full-resolution PNG to your Photos library. You can also save the Cube, RCO, and Globe nets, and export spinning rotation videos of the 3D shapes.
How do I use the Manual Map Editor?
Tap Edit on the configuration screen to open a blank grid, or open a saved map. Pick a tile from the palette and tap a grid cell to place it. Tap a placed tile to rotate or delete it. The Filter tool narrows the palette to tiles compatible with a selected cell’s neighbours and auto-rotates them when placed. Mismatched edges are highlighted in red.
What is Decorate Mode?
From the map editor toolbar, tap Decorate to see your map as a 3D tabletop. Tap to place meeple figures in six types and eight colours. Long-press a figure to lay it down; tap it to rotate, resize, or remove it. You can import your own 3D models from OBJ files, and save the decorated scene to Photos.
Do my saved maps sync between my iPhone and iPad?
Yes, if you have iCloud Drive enabled and are signed in with the same Apple ID on both devices. Saved maps live in CarcBot’s iCloud container and propagate automatically. You can disable this in iOS Settings → iCloud → iCloud Drive if you prefer local-only storage.
Does CarcBot upload anything?
No. CarcBot processes everything on your device. It contains no analytics, no ads, no third-party SDKs, and makes no network requests to our servers. See our privacy policy for details.
